Sheffield Refractories is a privately owned company, formed in 1976 from the re-organisation of George Johnson Refractories (originally established in 1897) and is a provider of refractory/ceramic products into a wide range of thermal process industries.

Sheffield Refractories offer an extensive range of own manufactured products, supported by two production sites, which combined with a comprehensive range of factored ceramic goods results in an ability to satisfy the most demanding customer requirements. Installation of refractory products is a significant part of the Sheffield Refractories business, offering the customer a high level of service to complement the technical excellence of the refractories themselves. In 1989 Sheffield Refractories was awarded ISO 9002 (BS5750) accreditation, ensuring all procedures and systems conform to an internationally recognised standard.

Sheffield Refractories supplies into large integrated steel plants, and the cement industry, but the overall the customer base is very diverse (both in terms of refractory consumption and industry type) as a high proportion of requirements are catered for.

Sheffield Refractories aim to offer an ongoing cost effective refractory supply, by technical advancements, efficient process routing, controlled quality and effective raw material selection whilst maintaining the flexible, practical and innovative approach to all of the customers' refractory requirements.
